Happy Fall y'all! Because of our generous board of directors we were able to hire a grant writer this year. If you work for a company that has a grant program please reach out or if you hear of anything that might be a good fit for us to support our agriculture program and expansion of our education program please send along. If you work for Whole Foods here in Long Beach can you nominate us? We are also curious if anyone knows the Harburton Foundation, we need to be invited to apply for this grant too. Thanks for keeping our farm in your philanthropic thoughts. Here are some dates for you to volunteer and come P-A-R-T-Y in October. See you on the farm soon. You can find out where to park and what to bring here. ONGOING - Sept 12 - Nov 21 Volunteer with us on Thursdays. 9-2 every Thursday we will be working with our CSULB service learners. Everyone is welcome to join but please no kids on this day. Please arrive on time (if you have to leave early that's ok but we all must start together). You can find out where to park and what to bring here. Oct 5th 9-2 Volunteer work day on the farm. Lots of plants need to be planted this day. Bring your own gloves, water, hat, snacks. Everyone is welcome to this planting day. Perfect for your kids! Oct 19th 8-1 Phase 3 of our Irrigation upgrade with Bill from Netafim. We will be finishing up the valves and hooking up the new system. Perfect work day if you are interested in learning about water flow rates, and how to install or maintain an irrigation system. Everyone is welcome to this work day. October 26th - Farm Roast! This is our last party for the year and these Roast events are always so much fun. The Pollen Collective is going to come and play music for you. Our chef line up is growing, names and menu will be posted when we get closer. These Roast events happen twice a year. $5 per person and the door goes to the musicians and 100% of the food purchased goes back to the farm. Please bring a chair, blanket and your own drinks. I hope to see all of y'all soon either on a Thursday work day, irrigation install or the Roast. I'll post more saturday's and other work days as they come up. Electrical and Water Upgrade We are getting closer to having our water main upgraded and electrical installed on the farm. The 2 go hand in hand, can't have new irrigation controls without electrical. Please consider donating to the cause. | | |
