Chickens are a great addition to your homestead but there are things you should know before you invest the time and money.

Feed, housing, basic veterinary care are the basics. Do you want chicks or pullets? How do you make sure you do not end up with a rooster? What are the current laws in Long Beach? How many should you start with and most exciting, what to do with all those fresh eggs!!!

You Built a Garden, Now What?

Join us on the farm for a hands on gardening class. Everything you need to know to be a successful backyard gardener begins with the soil. We will teach you what to do in your garden now to be successful all summer long. 

This class is geared toward people who already have a garden growing and need some tips to keep it thriving. This is a crash course in composting, vermiculture, compost tea, crop rotation, planting and harvesting. 

We welcome you to bring pictures, drawings and all your questions to this informative and interactive class. Please bring water, hat and a snack.

Last Call for Brunch on the Farm

Last Call for Brunch Tickets

Join us this Sunday for our last brunch of the Spring season. In conjunction with Chef Erick and Dana from Restauration we will be serving you a meal straight from Farm Lot 59. 

This weeks menu will feature our first summer squash harvest, eggs from our happy hens, salad greens and tons and tons of edible flowers. More menu items to be announced soon. 

Thank you for your ongoing support to help keep our small farm farming. All proceeds from this brunch series have made it possible to rebuild our greenhouse and install new efficient irrigation. We are your community farm and we love it!

pictureFarm Lot 59 and Restauration invite you to join us for the last installation of our brunch series. Chef Erick Simmons will announce his hyper-local menu the week of to ensure the freshest seasonal Farm Lot ingredients are used. I can promise you squash, squash blossoms, herbs, edible flowers and our delicious and fresh eggs. 

This farm brunch is part of our fundraising campaign to help cover the upkeep and maintenance costs of our small farm. We aim to be a focal point in your local food movement by producing organic produce, heirloom flowers, pastured eggs, education and training for our local citizen farmers.
