Starting the New Year off right!

Dear Long Beach Locals-

We are starting off 2014 with some high fundraising goals, specifically we need to hire more farmers! That's a good thing since it means that the demand for locally grown organic food is on the rise in Long Beach. Without the help of more farmers we will not be able to meet the increasing demand. So far its just a one woman operation with the gracious help of rotating volunteers and my board of directors we have made it this far. This is the year to step up our game and make this farm work for everyone!

Your support is the single factor that will make us a success in 2014. Please donate to Long Beach Local today!

If you make a gift of support today, here's what we can accomplish in 2014.

  • Hire a second farmer!
  • Help us to replenish our seed bank for 2014
  • Open Farmstand 59 for residents to come to the farm and purchase our products
  • Expand our educational program so we can have summer camp on the farm!
  • Host school groups and veterans interested in learning soil science
  • Pay off the balance due on our tractor
  • Plant an orchard to meet the demands of fresh fruit

At Farm Lot 59 we are dedicated to providing Long Beach with pesticide free, non-GMO, organically grown vegetables, eggs, fruit and flowers. By supporting the farm you are supporting a local business and keeping your tax deductible donations right here in the community. Become a member today for $25 or donate at any level. We appreciate the support.

See you on the farm.

Three Sisters Garden of Orizaba Park

Hello Long Beach Locals-

If you are interested in gardening in a community garden here is your chance. They are meeting to finalize the details before breaking ground next month.

Happy New Year!

-Sasha Kanno

Hi Everyone-

Thank you so much for expressing interest in gardening at the new Three Sisters Garden of Orizaba Park.  With the new year brings movement into full gear for getting the garden started.  The garden steering committee has been meeting for a few months to get the design and plans ready for this ADA compliant twelve plot garden space.  It will be the newest garden in Long Beach's vast community garden system.   There is a lot of work to make happen before we can start planning and we need to meet soon to make these plans happen on time.  The steering committee uses an email system to make meetings that most of the team can get to, so we will use that same way to plan our first full membership meeting.  We have two dates available, please let us know if you can come to both and we will set the date with the most members able to show.   Your choices are:
January 11 @ 8:30am or
January 15 @ 6pm,
Which dates can you make?  Please let us know by Wednesday, January 8th.

Please bring your calendars as we will be setting up the dates for building the garden out and your resource hats to share what resources you or your friends can share with the garden to make this project happen.  We are at the beginning of something great for our community and we appreciate your willingness to be a part of it from the start.  Feel free to call us with any questions and we will see you at the meeting!
