During these challenging and uncertain times Farm Lot 59, a Long Beach-based nonprofit urban farm, is stepping up to help those in need through its newly launched Farm to Family Program. In the last month Farm Lot 59 has served over 400 meals to the most vulnerable in Long Beach. Together with Chef Eugene Santiago of Baryo, Farm Lot 59 providing healthy weekly meals for residents of the Elizabeth Anne Seton Residence (“Seton House”), which is operated by Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc. The goal of the Seton House is to move homeless individuals and families from crisis situations to stability and self-sufficiency. Farm Lot 59 is actively seeking additional donors to support the program. The mostly women and children that reside at the Seton House have not had farm fresh food in years. Farm Lot 59’s Farm to Family program is providing farm fresh, organic produce that is mostly inaccessible to this demographic. Additionally, the preparation of meals at Thunder Studios and delivery of complete meals provides some relief to Seton House staff who can then continue to do their work to support residents in a multitude of other ways. Your donations will allow us to increase the duration or frequency of the program during these difficult times. |
