Success at ROE !!

An amazing THANK YOU to everyone who came out to ROE last week to help us raise funds to turn on the electricity at Farm Lot 59. We packed the house and had such a fun time. Music, food, booze. I mean, it was awesome.
Thank you Chef Art and all the crew at ROE. We took over your beautiful place and you were such a joy to work with.
Thank you to my board of directors and volunteers who ran the show and thanks to all our partners who gave us such killer items for our auction.
I'm still waiting on the final numbers we raised and I'll let you know as soon as I hear.

Community Farming
We had a fun day on the farm last Saturday planting and digging in our Living Classroom.

" Watching children delight in the simplicity of a ladybug on a blade of grass is one of the finer things in life when you are lucky enough to be a volunteer that leads a group of homeschoolers and parents at the Living Children's Garden; as I was privileged to do his past Saturday, March 25th. Under a perfect blue sky and with a calm breeze, the small group asked questions and gathered new knowledge about the workings of Sasha's Urban Farm Lot 59. We started at the gate reading the signs, and worked our way along the paths beside the salad beds and flowers, talking about the different growing seasons. We stopped next to the freshly built fence and prepared raised beds of the Living Classroom. It is such a treat to be able to tell children "YES! please touch, learn and explore", as we did Saturday. We started by identifying and pulling weeds, separating worms, and feeling the soft wisps of a stalk of hay, as the parents took on some of the heavier work like putting down mulch. The children and I put tomato and carrot seeds in the fresh soil, and picked out other varieties to plant. After watering and planting, the snack break was welcomed by all, and the sunscreen was reapplied. What an amazing full day of being at the Farm! As for myself and the other workers; Maddie and Lis and of course, Sasha and her son Nalu there was laughter and learning and birds singing. I look forward to more gatherings and education at the Farm, and encourage anyone who would like to be a docent for Farm Lot 59 to please consider donating your time to a worthy and enlightening endeavor. There is so much new information that I learn every time I go to the farm, and I leave happy and excited for my next visit to the farm. "
