Long Beach Gives is 2 Days Away!   Join us in supporting Farm to Family and Farm to Food Bank Initiatives.  We need your help to raise $15,000 on September 24th! These funds will support our efforts at Farm Lot 59 to serve those in need through our Farm to Family Program.    Since March we have been making farm fresh meals for the residents at the Elizabeth Anne Seton House. Starting last week we began to serve the people of 14th Street shelter also run by Catholic Charities. These are our neighbors and they are in need of cooked meals, pantry items and fresh organic produce.   We have stepped up our efforts and today we delivered 25 pounds of washed and bagged salad greens. The small amount of what we are able to donate today can easily increase. Our farm averages more than 6 tons of produce a year.    Think what we can do if we have the ability to hire more farmers and grow more food.    Support your local farm and food security in Long Beach. Today Early Giving Begins!   Long Beach Gives!   Join us in supporting urban farming, outdoor education and feeding those in need. September 24th We need your help to raise $15,000 to fund our Farm to Family Program. It’s going to be an exciting day of donation celebration, and it starts bright and early! Get a good night’s sleep and make sure your P2P fundraising page is ready to go. We’re going to need your social sharing powers on September 24th.    Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and in partnership with Thunder Studios and Chef Eugene Sanchez we were able to create the Farm to Family Program. Using our organically grown produce we are able to feed our neighbors at the Elizabeth Ann Seton House in Long Beach. As our program has developed and the needs of our community has changed, we are seeing how our farm can serve our community even more. This month we also started supporting the homeless services at Catholic Charities on 14th Street. Unlike the residents at the Seton House this location also serves as a food pantry. Eugene and Sasha saw the needs when they dropped off the first 140 meals and instantly brainstormed how we can bring more produce, pantry items, preserved farm items and full meals to our community. Our unhoused and underserved are in need and with your donations we will be able to produce more so we can give more. All of our produce is specifically grown for donation purposes to serve those who need it most. Giving to Farm Lot 59 helps us to fulfill our mission and support our community in ways we never knew we could.   Thank you for your support! Support Us What is Long Beach Gives? Volunteer this Saturday the 12th 8-11 When: Saturday, September 12th from 8 AM to 11 AM Where: Farm Lot 59, 2714 California Ave. Long Beach, CA   Please park at the top by the Farmstand and walk down the road.     Proper social distancing etiquette will be followed.  You must wear a face mask.    Please bring your own tools if possible, to reduce contact--pruners, loppers, pitchfork, shovels, and rakes are all helpful.
